Motor King Project

motor-king800 What is it?  It is a motorized tricycle used for transporting goods and supplies in rural areas of Ghana and throughout West Africa.  Again and again on our trip to PAMBE Ghana’s La’Angum Learning Center this summer, we heard of the need for a better way to transport supplies. Rural is an understatement. La’Angum is literally located in “the bush”. Children walk as far as 3 miles to school. The nearest town is 20 minutes away by motorcycle or four- wheeled drive truck. Now, all the teachers either ride a bike or motorcycle to school.  Some supplies can be carried on the back of their motorcycles.  Larger items are hauled in Alice’s duct-taped pickup, when available. La’Angum is growing.  There are now 240 children enrolled, with plans to expand.  The need to buy a motorized tricycle is apparent.  It is the safest and most cost efficient way to deliver the necessary goods and supplies to the school. The cost for a new motorized tricycle would be $3500.  Thirty five people contributing $100 each can meet this need.  We’d like to wrap up this project in time for Christmas. PAMBE Ghana is a 501(c)(3); therefore, the contributions are tax exempt.
